La Rana Chiazzata

La Rana Chiazzata (Rosso Piceno DOC 2021) is a blend of Montepulciano and Sangiovese from vineyards located in Mogliano (MC), facing south, at an altitude of 200 meters on sandy-limestone soils. Spurred cordon farming. In the first ten days of July, a thinning is done and the production of grapes per hectare is 70 q for Montepulciano and Sangiovese. After the harvest, at the end of September, rigorously done by hand as per tradition, only the best grapes are selected. We then proceed to the separate vinification by grape variety: destemming, soft pressing, and fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is blended and aged in French barriques for 12 months and further refined in the bottle before being sold.

The tasting

La Rana Chiazzata has a ruby red color with purple reflections; the nose perceives cherry, blackberry, plum, green pepper, and undergrowth of moss and fern. In the mouth, it has a fresh and decisive sip. Tart finish. It goes well with full-bodied first courses, semi-mature cheeses, and red or game meat mains.
